He also provided an introduction and notes. This little gem was published to celebrate the 75th birthday of Schulte Nordholt. Jan Willem Schulte Nordholt, 1920-1995, was professor of the history and culture of North America. He is in the Netherlands best known as a poet. He was also a great translator of byzantine and medieval church hymns. Many of them found their way into the 'Liedboek voor de Kerken'. On the dustjacket a signed woodcut print by the the Belgian artist Renaat Bosschaert.
